DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT – 14TH MAY 2020

It all changed for me about one week into lockdown.  I had been in a ‘funk’ for a few days already.  I wasn’t taking this ‘stay home, stay safe’ very well.  I like to be on the go, getting things done, seeing things happen, I guess that is/had been my ‘safe place’.  But God interrupted my unhealthy ‘funk’ mindset through the words of one of my daughters… “Mum, without all that other stuff in my head, I can remember now”.  Firstly, I gave thanks to God for revealing V’s state to me, we had something to work with…and before long, in the quietness (or somewhat un-quietness in this home!) of lockdown, God started working in revealing my state.  We had some things to work on…

My ‘funk’ had led to unrest within, loss of peacefulness in Him, but God led me to REMEMBER again a verse I have clung to many times.

Isaiah 46.3

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.

Or in my own words as I remind myself,

You will keep me in perfect peace, because my mind STOPS AT YOU.

Have you tried that lately?  Whatever your circumstances, whatever is overwhelming you, whatever ‘all that other stuff’ is…STOP YOUR MIND AT GOD!  Think on Him, REMEMBER Him, REMEMBER His goodness to His people throughout the Bible.  REMEMBER and reflect on His goodness and grace to you.  You will be overwhelmed, in a good way!

In Deuteronomy 8:10 The Israelites are warned to “Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God…”  and verse 2 of the same chapter “Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way…”

So dear child of God, myself included, today…be careful to REMEMBER the Lord your God and REMEMBER how He has led you to this point.  He is still the same God today and tomorrow as He was yesterday.  Faithful, loving and so gracious to us – let THIS overwhelm you, not “all the other stuff”.
