We trust that this finds you all holding up well under Level 4.
In Psalm 27:1 David wrote: “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
David declared, “YAWEH my light and my salvation” – a statement found nowhere else in Scripture. David had discovered the reality of God’s presence in midst of personal hardship and danger. He had learnt that darkness, fear and anxiety could never abide in the light of God’s powerful refuge. The LORD was the ever-present “stronghold of his life” —the one in whom he could trust completely for safety and protection. Who or what on earth could possibly harm David, when it was Almighty God who defended him?
In Hebrews 13:5b-6 we read, “…for He has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper: I will not fear; what can man do to me?’”
May we all experience that deep reassurance that comes from knowing Him who never leaves or forsakes us—so that we too can say, “The Lord is my helper: I will not fear!”
Regarding this Sunday—even if we drop to Level 3 over the weekend—we will not be able to lawfully gather for our normal church service. So, for another week, we will be running things online.
This Sunday, Vivian has kindly produced a video for us which will include:
Opening Prayer (Stephen)
Worship Song 1 (Phil Cullen)
Children’s intro (Lilian Rowe)
Scripture reading (Mason Kids)
Sermon on Genesis 21:12,17 (Nevin Beukes)
Worship Song 2 (Phil Cullen)
Communion Reflection (Nathan Chard)
The video will finish there. Then we can share communion at home.
Note from Lilian: This week the children will focus on the memory verse: Psalm 100:5 “The Lord is good, his love is eternal and his faithfulness lasts forever.” In readiness they could have paper, pencils… ready to illustrate it during Nevin’s teaching time. I have done a three minute video for the service linking Nevin’s teaching with the Abraham series we are currently on.

You can tune in just before 10am or go to the link now and set a reminder to be notified when the service goes live. There will be a two-minute countdown before 10am when the video starts, giving everyone a chance to sit down first. While a video is premiering, you will be able to chat with others and comment live by text in the live chat box next to the live video.
